I dident get my camera to take any decent photos of the motor mount, so I draw a small tutorial of how to make wing motor mounts on a FOX!

the motor mount is made from two parts:
one round part is made from thin plywood, and "D" the diameter should be big enought for the chosen motor.
the second part is made from 5mm balsa,
"H" should be the same size as the "D" diameter of the plywood part.
"C" is the measurement of the Wing thickness where the cut out ends.
"L" is the lenght of the cut out.

make the cut out something like this..
use the measurements from the cut out to make the balsa and the plywood parts.

remember to have enought clearence for props before cutting..

slide in the balsa part in the cut out,
before gluing it with CA, make sure it's horisontal to the stabilisator (not the wing)

glue in the plywood part with CA!
when you get the CA glue off your fingers it's time to install the motors!

The smartest FOX On the internet myfriend!

Looks very clean, and no prop in the way either!!

You you have a pan and tilt here also?
Thanks!

I have just changed from two 5gr to two 10gr motors, I will do test flights as soon as the weather calms down..

If the new motors give enought trust I think I will add a pan servo!
I dont have a radio that supports headtrack yet, so no tilt is planed..

Can you tell me which motors and props you used? I'd like to duplicate this setup.
Hello!
here is the complete list!

I use 5x3 gws props, I think you can use bigger props but I think 5x3 works ok for me!
I use a 10mx fatshark tx and a ccd killer cam, but plan to change to flytron tx soon to save some weight!

Are you happy with the performance? I may be flying at 8,000 to 10,000 feet and I want to make sure it has enough power.
That's a great idea for motor mounts! That could be applied to others as well. I've already given thought to a twin Easy Glider after seeing that... lol
Hi!

A twin easy glider is a cool idea Big Grin

@Bloomington: You want to fly up to 10000ft? Sounds like a amazing project, can you tell us more about your plans (maybe in a new topic Wink)?

Wish you a nice day!
Greetings
Heiko
I think he means 8-10 thousand feet ASL,like in the mountains! If I'm wrong though, I would LOVE to see a Fox make a climb to 10,000 feet AGL... That would be awesome! Big Grin
I'm happy with the performace, alot of power, but it's a little on the heavy side..
as long as you fly fast it's a really good flyer, but as soon as you cut the motors it drops!
I think keeping it light is key!
I have also been thinking of making a bigger glider with twin enginesSmile
