Hey guys, I recently got into FPV, and recently joined this forum. I decided I should have a clone of my thread on rcgroups here as well!
I'm mostly a Heli pilot, but fly planes as well. I decided to start FPV off with a tricopter, so I ordered some components and built a tricopter using a LAHeli Nanokopter frame.
Here are the first ever flights of the Nanokopter. I had one short flight right before I mounted the FPV gear to make sure the tri would actually fly, one quick downlink test with FPV gear, then I jumped right into FPV! Probably got a bit to anxious with the whole FPV thing as I really should have waited to get the tricopter dialed in properly!
I still have some bugs to work out (such as the tri leaning hard left when hitting throttle)
Soon I plan to have a airplane as well for FPV, I will be building a mid-prop jet.
Hehe, the onboard audio definitely does sound like you're riding on a bee
When you're actually standing there you can hear the individual motors more distinctly and it sounds more like a swarm of bees lol
Thanks, here's another one of my test flights. My first test of my video gear (2nd or 3rd actually but 1st one where I had my mpvr to record) on my Atom 500: (go to the vimeo page to see the explanation for what happened at the very end)

The field is located in the Pacific NW (Washington state)
Hey, I'm in Oregon... we should get together and do some flying! You should join us at the Brooks, Oregon Heli fun fly on the weekend of June 18th, if you can make it. I'll have my FPV Protos there, and I'm on 1.28 gHz for video, so we could fly together! ( I see you're on 900...). Just make sure you have a buddy cord if you want to fly FPV at the fun fly

No updates yet. The first spare parts for the Nanokopter to hit the U.S. have just arrived, the parts I need (two arms) will be in my hands this thursday. I will actually spend some time flying and dialling in the tricopter without FPV gear and get all the bugs worked out before I attempt any FPV with the tri again.
In the mean time I still need to get video goggles, the monitor I have is a unacceptable solution for piloting, I will probably get the Fatshark's without video rx when that comes out. Also, I am currently building a scratch built depron full-fuse mid prop jet that my friend designed (Kai_Shiden on most forums) I will be starting a thread for that build very soon.

Hey Aaron, while that sounds fun, I don't think I will make it to Brooks for the fun fly this year; I'm moving in June. But I will be at the Cascade fun fly in Snohomish, WA in July. Not sure If I will be doing any FPV then, probably not. Plus, the thought of flying a heli FPV still scares me lol. One day I'll get there. First I will get comfortable with a plane and tricopter!
Thanks for the update Jaguar_5 . Just so you know your video's is what made me order a GAUI Quadrocopter ... Now I got to upgrade my 4 channel radio if you know any body selling one ..
Pulls about 330 watts too. Not bad hehe. It will be a bit longer before I delve back into FPV (couple weeks) I'm waiting for my goggles, I'm moving, and I need to actually get the tri dialled in and get some confidence in it. The test flights in my living room is very promising. A few tweaks from last time, and it's much more predictable, and doesn't have the violent lean (which was my biggest issue)
