Hi there!

We decided to build a LED runway for 1st German FPV Meeting as a special feature for all participants Smile
I've asked my favorite LED-Shop LED1.de for supporting this project.
After a short FPV presentation the guys from LED1.de told me, that they are glad to support us!

Together we decided to build a 50m long and 7m wide runway.
Each 2m we are going to install a white LED (long side), red and green LED in a distance of 1m at the 2 ends of the runway!

Because of the high power each LED will be mounted on a heat sink.
All in all we will use 78 high power LED for the runway!

We are going to use the following high power LED:

In addition we will install a PAPI, presicion approach path indicator. Please have a look at fpv-galaxy's developement: FPV PAPI
The PAPI will be lighted with LED from LED1.de, as well Wink

Furthermore we are going to place a high power double flash, based on LED technology, to mark the airfild Big Grin
The flasher is already under developement. More info soon.

Can't wait to meet you all at the meeting. As you can see, we will have a lot of fun, included FPV night flying!
Stay tuned for more.

An official thanks goes to the guys from ww.LED1.de for their generous support!

Best regards
Heiko

I've tried a flasher to mark the homebase but the flash was quicker than the framerate of the camera, my cmos displayed the flash only partial or not at all...
That sounds very cool Heiko.
We can fly also in the night then.
Poorly i need more experiance with FPV flying
I hope someone has a DX7 radio to support my flying.Blush
sounds cool. Dont think i'll be able to make it from canada Sad
Hi Aaron!

Yes, would be awesome to see some guys from the english FPV-Community. But you're right, Canada is far away...
The new Flytron LightCon PowerLED Controller would be a good cheap option to run a portable strip of high power leds for a strobe strip.

[attachment=734]

LED1.de provided the following parts:
  • 52x OSRAM DragonTapes white 210 Lumen (!) 120° angle 1W power (long side)
  • 14x High Power LED red - 1W (for ends of the runway, 7 LEDs at each end)
  • 14x High Power LED green- 1W (for ends of the runway, 7 LEDs at each end)
  • 82x heat sink (for each LED)
  • 9x constant current source
  • 8x 10mm LED white and red (for our PAPI) with SMD constant current source
  • thermal heatsink glue (2 components)
I hope that I'll found the time to make a nice build log for you Wink
Stay tuned for more!

wow thats amazing! There is a lot of lighting power there.
Heiko this looks really awesome! I can't wait to see the results.
