I was thinking, that I could not do much, if I fly out of range.

But than I have found this: Autopilot

This is the cheapest way.

You have a "little" work on it, but it worth it, I think! Wink

When I go out of video, or controller range, all I have to do, is switching of the transmitter, the failsafe turns on the autopilot, and brings my plane back. Blush

I might build this "cleverness"! Big Grin

i wish you good luck, i looked at this 6 month ago, but i have not got the skills to build such a device Sad

all i have a fma co-pilot, is ok i guess i have it to gently loop down, not perfect i know!

THX!

So, you know what it can do?

As I have found;

U can use your FMA system with Ardu pilot.
Before Ardupilot was not able to stabilise your plane, onley worked as a heding hold like GPS based navigation system. They used FMA autopilot to stabilise during the flight.

But now they have developed a new version, and Ardupilot can do it all.
The onley thing left in the sytem from FMA is the sensor set.

So Ardupilot is able to stabilsie your plane, has hight and heading hold, and even more.
You are able to set waypoints, etc.

Interesting technology.

And, I think, it is not that complicated.
There are much more complicated autopilots, like Paparazi

As I haven't started yet...
Let's get back here, when I have finished my....... Big Grin
Yes they say very easy to use!

somone recently use a zlog mod3 to hold altitude height with in 10feet
fam co-pilot of stable flight yes
and heading hold

i belive it is a mixture of all different things, and becuase of open source, it gets updates very very quickly!

i just have not had time to sit down and think about how it is done, maybe oneday i will look to build one
Give me a PM or email, when you start with it!

We might be able to help each other! Wink

Sure this sounds like a fun idea and also more sucess with 2 people helping eatch other! we could do a documented build here for the forum to give insperation to others to follow along too!

what you think of that? hopefuly draw more people to the forum aswell??Tongue
I think it is a good idea.

But I have to wait a bit.

This summer, I have too many fixed programs already.... Blush
(Also nead to save up for.... Blush)
It would not be a sound thing, to make You jump in the project, and could not keep up with...

But wintertime!

What do you think about taht!? Rolleyes

haha Smile i 100% agree with that! winter time it is, when it is too cold outside we can hibernate inside and build!

i expect a new version or 2 will be here by then also, so we will be upto date!
Auto pilots are a very impotent and interesting them. We fly higher ant farther then every time before. and I think in future it will rise up further.

So i think it slowly becomes time to think about a Rescue system. many of us fly nearly or over occupied area. so the risk to hurt ore damage someone ore something if we lost control is very high.

So if the ArduPilot really works it could be a considerable security increase

yes i build a auto for safety, of others. i prefere my plane gets damaged and not people or property.

i think i will look into this again more soon.

the reason i like this system is that i can teach myself along the way, so i can learn and hope to add my own features, like parachute deployment.

even if the aircraft looses rc link, the auto pilot will keep the aircraft in circle - but this is still unsafe if it not seen, so a parachute will stop the flight and bring it down slow and safe!

then use rf beacon to find it, or back up fpv plane!Big Grin
